Sallust (86-c. 35 BC) was a Roman historian and politician. His principal works are the Bellum Catilinae, on the conspiracy of Catiline, and his account of the Jugurthine War, Bellum Jugurthinum. Josiah Osgood is professor and chair of classics at Georgetown University and the author of many books, including Rome and the Making of a World State, 150 BCE-20 BCE. He lives in Washington DC.
