Overview

Witch Spinners possess the gift of creating conjuring cloths, a revered tool that channels energy two ways instead of one. A user of such a piece wields great power. Larissa North Strondovan's family is one of the remaining few who can create such a fine magical tool, but an old quarrel with the South Hawthorne clave has left her family despised and scattered to different parts of the earth. The discord between the two claves has reverberated to such a degree that the world teeters on the brink of permanent chaos and darkness. With her family in hiding, Larissa has been raised in a loving adopted family and become skilled in witchcraft under the tender tutelage of her aunt, Dorenda, who has taught her in secret. Her peaceful world is disrupted when the governing body of witches names her as the current heir who will help right the old wrong between the families. August South Hawthorne is dismayed to learn he will be Larissa's companion in an urgent quest to determine what happened and return a stolen relic to its rightful owner. Overcoming old prejudices nearly drives August mad. Larissa's cool resolve can only temper their relationship to a certain limit. Trusting each other is nearly impossible. As they travel, their quest slowly unveils into a palpable reality that threatens to overcome their greatest magical abilities. August and Larissa learn certain confounding truths about each other. Behind all their efforts is a dark force working to overturn everything they had formerly trusted and believed.

Reviews

*** I, especially loved how the two authors. P. Mattern and Scarlet Darkwood gave us readers a real good history of Larissa North Strondovan and her family. The story has some fantastic twists and turns that have you not wanting to put the book down. This book drew me in from the very beginning, the characters were very interesting and the storyline was very strong. I look forward to reading the next book in this trilogy; it will be so awesome, just like this book ! *** I LOVE when the two main protagonists clash from the get go, and Larissa North Strondovan (from a noble but impoverished witch clave) and August South Hawthorne(from a wealthy and powerful Clave) are forced together as the only Heirs to augment their powers and fine hone their magical skills set on a crucial quest... Lurking are many enemies, unlikely friends, unusual creatures and a Destiny they might need to die for! This is only book one! Looking forward to the next!

Author Information

Scarlet Darkwood wields a mighty pen, or at the very least, delivers mighty punches to the computer keys when she's typing furiously on a story. She likes dark and twisted, and the weirder, the better. Always preferring avant garde themes, her stories take the reader on unusual adventures, exploring the darker parts of the human psyche as she whips out cunning prose wrapped in provocative themes. Sometimes she veers from her beaten path and takes a happy-go-lucky romp in the brighter sides of life, kicking up her style into sharp, snappy dialogue and clever descriptions. Writing in several genres unleashes her imagination so she never grows bored. From a young age, she's enjoyed writing and keeping diaries, but didn't start creating novels until 2012. She's a Southern girl who lives in Tennessee and enjoys the beauty of the mountains. She lives in Nashville with her spouse and two rambunctious kitties. P. Mattern is an Amazon #1, top 100 best-selling and award-winning author. Born with a stylus clutched in her tiny hand, she's been producing stories since she was in utero and hasn't looked back. She is the author of the Strident House and Full Moon Series, as well as other entertaining novels, short stories and novellas. Always the weaver of enticing plot lines, she wrote stories to entertain classmates in elementary school and won awards for fiction and poetry in college. After being laid off from her professional job in mental health, she began writing down all the stories she had carried in her head and made outlines in earnest for her vibrant characters.
