Hornchurch tube station is a London Underground station on the District Line, located in Hornchurch and a short walk south from the town centre. The station is in Zone 6, located between Elm Park and Upminster Bridge stations. The station was opened by the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway in 1885 and was expanded and modernised in 1935. The station has four platforms. Two are used by the District Line and another two are disused after service from LT&SR was withdrawn in 1962 when the line through the station was electrified. The current station buildings were opened in 1932 when the electrified District Line was extended to Upminster.
