The pages are perforated and designed so that individual instructions can be photocopied and distributed by home care nurses. These instructions standardise teaching protocols and are adaptable to the requirements of any home care agency. The second edition has been updated with developments in care. There is expanded content for maternal-child health, including basic pre- and post-partum care as well as signs and symptoms of preterm labour. Paediatrics topics focus on treatment of common problems such as thrush and cradle cap. Intravenous therapy content is updated with new infusion therapies such as midline and PICC catheters. Comfort measure content has been expanded to address more fully pain management such as terminal cancer pain, chronic pain, and acute post procedural/injury pain. The accompanying CD-ROM gives the reader the option of customizing patient instructions on a computer and then printing them out.
