A member of the Bordeaux-based International Society for François Mauriac Studies, his numerous previous books include several on Mauriac’s literary and political writings, as well as a major contribution to the recent award-winning Dictionnaire Mauriac. He was also appointed Chevalier des Palmes Académiques «for service to French culture». His lifelong interest in American film has also led to a study of Frank Capra and to this present book.
