He learned his hockey oh the sub-continent and played First Division for Calcutta Rangers Club in the 50s. Served as a Bengal Senior Selector with Keshav Dutt and Balbir Kapoor. Emigrated to Australia in 1964 with his wife Jean and four sons. Though over the hill age-wise to play top grade, played with Glebe HC in Sydney and Cricketers Club in Perth.
