OverviewEducation has long been recognised as one of the most powerful instruments for social transformation. When education is directed toward inclusion, equity, and ethical awareness, it transcends the boundaries of classrooms and textbooks to shape societies, institutions, and collective consciousness. In this context, women's education occupies a particularly significant place, as it addresses historical inequalities while simultaneously opening pathways for sustainable development, democratic participation, and cultural continuity. This volume emerges from the growing recognition that women's empowerment cannot be achieved through access to education alone, but requires conscious engagement with decision making, leadership, values, and social responsibility. The units included in this work bring together reflections on women centric higher education, leadership narratives, curriculum innovation, gender sensitization, media discourse, and institutional transformation. Together, they offer a holistic understanding of how education functions as both a personal and societal catalyst. The Preface situates this work within contemporary educational and social debates, particularly in the Indian context, where higher education institutions are increasingly called upon to respond to questions of equity, ethics, and inclusivity. Assam Women's University, as the only women's university in the state, provides a compelling institutional context for examining these issues in practice. The discussions presented here are informed by academic scholarship, policy frameworks such as the National Education Policy 2020, and lived experiences documented through leadership narratives and media engagement. It is hoped that this volume will serve as a meaningful resource for educators, researchers, policymakers, students, and readers interested in understanding the transformative potential of women's education in shaping just, inclusive, and forward-looking societies.
