OverviewDavid Ronald met Elizabeth Sloan on a ship travelling from Ceylon to Australia in 1935. Their life went on to be as colourful and varied as the setting of their romance. After a courtship that spanned several continents, they were swept up in David's army career and endured the terrors and hardships of war in the Far East before finally returning to Europe. They married twice - once in secret in Australia, because by the rules of David's regiment he was too young, before tying the knot again back in England. David was promoted Colonel won a Military Cross and later became a CBE. 'Here, there and almost everywhere' is David and Elizabeth's story, told jointly, of their life together (and all too often apart) in India, Burma, Gibraltar, Spain and Italy, along with many happy interludes back home in England. Born in Canada in 1913, he was brought up in England after his parents returned there at the outbreak of the First World War. At 12 he was being schooled in France, and at 20 he was serving with the British Army in India. Elizabeth Sloan made her own decision to seek pastures new when in her 20s she left everything behind in Scotland to seek her fortune in Australia. She and David just happened to be on the same ship, and fell for each other before they had docked in Sydney. The rest of this book is the story of their life together (and all too often apart, thanks mainly to David's military service). Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
