Author Information

Gloria Slater grew up near Syracuse, NY listening to the fantastic stories her mother told about life in Berlin, Germany during WWII. Bombs falling all around them, fires burning across the street, people mysteriously disappearing, Russian soldiers on rampages of rape and destruction and her mother, Heddy, praying them through it all. Gloria's father, Charles Slover, wanted to write a book about this amazing woman he'd learned to love while a soldier in Steglitz, but died before he could. So, Gloria spent many years with her mother, Lieselotte Emma Berte Knoll Slover, getting all the stories and facts straight and wrote the book that tells what it was really like for the German people living in Hitler's twisted world of hate. Her mother, Lilo, wanted the world to know what it was truly like for them. Her father wanted the world to know Heddy and what her astounding prayer accomplished for her family and neighbors during the darkest time of the 20th century. Now you can know, too. Gloria Slater has a BA in English Literature. She has written short stories, poetry, songs and this historical novel. She has been on TV, film and radio and hopes to put her mother's adventures into film, as well. Having lived in seven states, she has driven across the country six times and across four provinces. Her acting, she feels, feeds her aptitude in writing and singing and video editing. Look for her coming works.
