Overview

POPULAR APPROACH: This book deals with serious science but aims directly at a popular audience, in the tradition of National Geographic and other natural history magazines. Like them it is filled with amazing images of a stunning natural world. TIMELY: With the many protests going on over oil & gas access to the coast, this book illustrates the importance of this environment to the people who live here, and have lived here for millennia. BROAD SCOPE: Heart of the Coast looks at all aspects of the area, its flora, fauna and physical attributes, the oceanography, geology, and biology. EXPERTLY TOLD: Author Tyee Bridge talked to dozens of scientists to produce this book and has beautifully synthesized their stories. All aspects of the book have undergone scientific review to ensure its accuracy. BROADER INTEREST: While this book is focused on a particlar ecosphere, its information is relevant around the world and is not specific to British Columbia's central coast.
