III 1726, Bienville was displaced, and Perier appointed his successor. At this time the colony had settlements at Natchez, Pascagoula, Yazoo and St. Catha rines. In 17 34, the administration of Perier was so unfortunate that Bienville was again reinstated. In 17 Bienville resigned, and was succeeded, by the Mar quis of Vaudreuil, who remained until appointed Governor of Canada.
