She earned her A.B. at Brown University and her Ph.D. at the State University of New York at Albany. Following completion of a clinical internship at UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School, Dr. Beck joined first the faculty at the University of Houston, then the University at Buffalo, SUNY and most recently, the University of Memphis. She has published widely on the topics of sexual dysfunction, panic, generalized anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, co-morbidity among mental disorders, and the role of cognitive and emotional processes in psychological distress.
