Overview

Driven by intense personal interest, including a shoulder with a bullet hole in it, Harry takes the Special Marine Strike Force across the Timor Sea to Indonesia in pursuit of the escaping Earth Care principals. Retribution and reward follow in the best Harry Stevens tradition, before the Strike Force take some well-deserved R&R and head for West Indonesia to keep their promise to their friends, Roger and Jill, in the search for the highly elusive and remarkable Green Gold. Greedy islanders and pirates plying their age-old trade, do their best to complicate the process, but more treasure, along with the body count, keep piling up for the crews of the two boats, before some seized papers reveals details of an assassination plot against the Aussie PM and names the shadowy figures who were financing the EarthCare debacle! Harry's not the only one with cunning plans - the special envoy who arrives to collect the papers comes up with a hare-brained scheme to safeguard the PM, but more strange alliances are formed as an old adversary unexpectedly re-surfaces. A final round of havoc brews up that attracts Harry's particular brand of retribution, but who wins...who loses, and is the job really finished?

"""This is Book 2 in the Firebird Series, and Backpackers leads us on another adventure with a maritime background. All the drama and action we have come to expect from Ian, we are left with just one question... when can we expect book three?"" -Alison Lewis, author of ""Missing"" Praise for Hitchhikers (Book 1 of the Firebird Series) ""The hero, Harry, when asked what he has been doing lately, answers ""Boats, bad guys, bullets and old friends."" What he fails to add is - beautiful women, sex, a bad-ass black cat, and Bond type cunning to overcome the bad guys. Piqued your interest? This is a great fast paced read and I am looking forward to the next phase of Harry's life as promised by the author. -Judith Flitcroft, Author of Walk Back in Time. ""What a story ... thrilling right to the last page with a neat ending. A blockbuster with plenty of sea breezes thrown in, and quite a few gale warnings too. Well done Mr Dolby.'' -Alison Lewis, author Missing and Seasons of Life"

Author Information

I was born and raised on the Gold Coast, Queensland where my extended family always had boats. My love of sailing came from this background and developed through a series of racing catamarans that in turn led to the purchase of an old 47-foot wooden, engineless, monohull yacht that had been built in Ireland in 1905 and had taken part in the Dunkirk evacuation. I lived on this boat at a marina in Rushcutters Bay, Sydney Harbour for several years and my engine-free adventures on this wonderful old boat may one day appear in writing. The love of flying dragged me away from the boating scene, and after 38 years of glider, aeroplane and helicopter flying, I have retired to live in country New South Wales with my partner, who is my Chief Editor, and our two cats. While my writing has evolved from a part-time hobby to become a full-time occupation, it is no less enjoyable while the story lines keep coming to mind.
