Overview

At a time when the immigration debate in America threatens to boil over, Americans are losing the ability to talk about a phenomenon that has defined who they are as a nation.Through 50 heart-warming portraits, Green Card Stories dispels the myth that today's immigrants are not as hardworking, energetic, or eager to assimilate into American culture as past generations of new arrivals. In fact, it illustrates the energy and passion of these people and conveys a collective determination to fulfil the American Dream.

The idea for the book was conceived by two immigration lawyers, Laura Danielson and Stephen Yale-Loehr, as a way to share the incredible stories of faith, hope and struggle that they witnessed in their clients. It was also to serve as a counterpoint to an increasingly acrimonious debate about immigration in the United States. - Stephanie Siek, CNN Immigrants are a critical source of America's spirit and strength.
