OverviewThe interconnection between the States of the world has created an interdependence that has become the guarantee of protection of their territories and their wealth, the measure of security of their people and their goods; of their development in general: this is the globalization that this book deals with. Although its definition is sometimes boring, there is nothing mysterious about globalization. However, the plethora of theories to understand it makes its meaning elusive and difficult to analyze. It is a historical process, the result of human innovation and scientific progress, which has turned the world into a space for human transactions, with language as a central tool for exchange. The latter plays a primordial and indispensable role. The present work is more interested in the threats that the French language undergoes particularly in this gear named globalization, with the Internet as its engine. The analysis of data collected on the ground in Cameroon, a bilingual country par excellence, shows that English is the language that everyone wants to speak, while French is fighting to protect itself against all linguistic venants as this book shows.
