Overview

"""Ghosts of Presidents Past - A Reckoning"" serves as a metaphor for the chaos in American politics from 2015 -2020. The work combines historical fiction with political parody and humor. Normally we don't see ghosts and phantoms except on Halloween when trick-or-treaters knock on front doors. If Halloween in government existed, how might twenty-three former US presidents, beginning with George Washington, respond to the siren call to visit a president who ignores the Constitution and suppresses and manipulates information for political gain? What if that president disrespected his obligations to the Nation's revered institutions and the American public? What if he lacked moral fiber and used the office for personal gain? What if he had attained the highest office in the land through unscrupulous means? What if his ego drove him to manipulate the truth to enhance his image? What if he bullied his opponents and called them sophomoric names? What if he alienated friends and stalwart allies? What if that president disrespected his obligations to the Nation's revered institutions and the American public? What if he lacked moral fiber and used the office for personal gain? What if he had attained the highest office in the land through unscrupulous means? What if his ego drove him to manipulate the truth to enhance his image? What if he bullied his opponents and called them sophomoric names? What if he alienated friends and stalwart allies? In ""Ghosts of Presidents Past,"" President Daniel Hands violates the public trust. He desecrates the Oval Office so egregiously that past occupants return to confront him. What could they say to POTUS that might reform him? During their journey, each shares some relevant success and regrets while in office. ""Ghosts of Presidents Past - A Reckoning"" encapsulates many of the more shocking public utterances and events over the last several years where each new one often eclipses its predecessor. ""Ghosts"" will entertain readers who enjoy presidential history. The visiting presidents bring some surprises and share some little known or forgotten moments in their lives. The book will speak primarily to moderate Republicans, Democrats, and Independents. Charles Dickens's ""A Christmas Carol"" provided the inspiration for this book. And like his work, it is political satire and a statement of the times. The author is a Proud Supporter of NPR and PBS, Houston Public Media stations. Author Information

"James Mikel Wilson has either traveled, worked, or lived in over thirty countries and forty-seven states. ""Ghosts of Presidents Past - A Reckoning"" is his fourth book, a hybrid of political satire and historical fiction. Wilson collects Lionel trains, North American Indian artifacts, and books written and signed by U.S. Presidents and First Ladies. He and his wife have enjoyed the company of five dogs. He is a Son of the American Revolution and a war veteran. As he traveled over the years for a large multi corporation and for pleasure, Wilson especially enjoyed learning more about the culture, cuisine, history, and politics of the places he visited. A word about other books. ""Churchill and Roosevelt: The Big Sleepover at the White House,"" received the 2018 Author Academy Award in historical fiction. A London playwright has converted the book to a stage play. He and the producers hope to premiere the work in England and then the US in 2021- 2022. The author has autographed books at numerous events, including the 50th Anniversary of the National Churchill Museum. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) wrote a national magazine article endorsing ""Paw Tracks Here and Abroad - A Dog's Tale."" The book talks about Snickers, a stray dog abandoned in the street in Peoria, IL and her true-life adventures moving from city to city in the U.S. and then Geneva, Switzerland. Snickers narrates the story about adoption, animal care, and cultural experiences. When the author's current dog, Missy the Westie, cornered a rare American blue bullfrog, he seized upon the opportunity to publish ""Mr. Froggy's Dilemma."" This children's story teaches about Amphibians, froggy songs, science, and the environment. For a number of months Amazon Books ranked it number one in its genre.
