Karen Winick is the owner of Pencilworks Studio in Little Falls, New Jersey. She specializes in teaching children painting and drawing. She is married to Jerry Winick the illustrator of this book. This book is based on Jerry's childhood growing up in Brooklyn. Jerry has been drawing since the age of 8 and always drew what he saw around him including his friends and relatives. Jerry Winick is an award winning pencil artist and his drawing of President Obama will be on display at the Obama Presidential Library in 2025.
