He was previously Sir John Lubbock Professor of Banking Law, and Head of the International Financial Law Unit, Queen Mary, University of London, and has acted as a referendaire at the European Court of Justice, a senior legal adviser to the EU Presidency held by Greece, and as Chairman of the Committee for the Drafting of the EU Accession Treaty (2003).
