Cabell's literary career took off with the publication of ""The Eagle's Shadow"" (1904) and ""Gallantry: Dizain des Fetes Galantes"" (1907), the latter gaining both acclaim and controversy for its bold exploration of courtly love and sexuality. Cabell's most renowned work is ""Jurgen: A Comedy of Justice"" (1919), a provocative and witty novel that faced censorship challenges due to its alleged obscenity. Nevertheless, it solidified his reputation as a daring and innovative writer.
