G rlitzer Bahnhof is a Berlin U-Bahn station on the viaduct of the U1. It is located in Kreuzberg, in an area that offers a wide range of nightlife but is also notorious for its riots on May 1. The station opened on February 18, 1902 under the name of Oranienstra e and is still preserved in its original condition. Designed by the company Siemens & Halske. In 1926 it was named after the nearby G rlitzer Bahnhof, one of Berlin's pre-war railway stations where southeastbound trains departed. 1981 it was renovated.
