He studied Chemical Engineering at undergraduate level at Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, India. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, US. His Ph.D. thesis focused on using systems biology approaches to understand Salmonella pathogenesis.
