Full Circle is Matthew G. Smith's take on cause and effect, eventuality, and absolution. Set against the backdrop of old Singapore, this collection of 120 images represents the often overlooked stories in the back alleys of this modern metropolis. In this concrete jungle, dawn & dusk mingle unnoticed. Old buildings take on fresh coats of vibrant paint, in a bid to stay relevant since their bustling days of yesteryear. Cultural art tells of the circle of life. The subway is certainty of the daily cycle of back and forth. One theme is evident - the ebb and flow of daily life speaks of the eventuality of older parts of a city. Journeying by foot, Smith photographs the forgotten and gives voice to their silent stories. In a rapidly modernized city like Singapore, the relentless progress of life spares none. Yet, there remain parts of the city that stayed behind the curtains, watching the shiny skyscrapers go up, while staying silently and contentedly true to themselves.
