Turley made presentations to his engineering and management peers about the cause of the Macondo blowout. His travels took him across the US and Canada, and to the U.A.E., Bahrain, England, Scotland, Spain, New Zealand, and Australia. Attendees submitted post-presentation comments, below, that helped drive the writing of FROM THE PODIUM, which is the pixel/paper version of the presentation. One of the best . . . presentations I have seen in 40 years . . . Excellent lecture! Showed what understanding can be gained with plain engineering thinking and analysis of information, without computer modelling. He also included simple descriptions and explanations (for) those not familiar with the subject . . . . . . (disseminated) incredibly important information, in what was a very effective and engaging presentation Terrific lecture. Fantastic use of data to walk through the Macondo incident step by step and the best explanation of root causes of the disaster. . . . one of the finest . . . presentations . . . because we left equipped with a different way of thinking when data doesn't fit our expectations. We knew (the blowout was coming) . . . but the way he enlightened each step and warning flag along the way was so clinical and clear. Clear, concise, to the point, without any editorializing . . .
