Overview

As is well known, there are various versions of the Bible. But what is perhaps more important to understand is that the various versions of the Bible are the result of the work of thousands of unknown and unknowable persons who worked over several millennia on the text of various written records in different languages. Biblical authorities and scholars who have studied and interpreted these texts usually arrive at a consensus of a correct, or nearly correct, version of the biblical text. Accepting that today's biblical texts result from studied consensus of the texts of the Bible, From Eden to Golgotha offers interpretations and suggested understandings that challenge and/or contradict standard and accepted interpretations. Some examples: Why did God select the Jews as his chosen people? Is there a basis for the universal condemnation of sex? Of divorce? Did God conclude he made a mistake in creating mankind? Having foretold millennia ago the fate of the Jewish people, does history down to this day document his foretelling? How much of Jesus' examples and teachings have been ignored by those who today flaunt their Christianity ? Has G. K. Chesterton's insight that it's not that Christianity has been tried and failed. It's that Christianity has never been tried been proven true?

H. H. Charles never disappoints when it comes to inciting curiosity. . . . Never fearful of controversy, Charles presents a fresh approach that explores certain mysteries in the Bible that most 'experts' have either not considered, or would not dare approach. The presentation of these biblical surprises convincingly undercuts authorities of the past and provokes the reader to rethink biblical teachings. --Jane Wagner, attorney at law, Illinois There is no better person to tackle the conventional wisdom and faithful (often fateful) assumptions about the Bible than H. H. Charles, who brings his well-honed penchant for challenging conventional thinking to perhaps the most interpreted, and misinterpreted, tome in the world. . . . You will be led on a journey in which questions will abound, answers will challenge your core thinking, your curiosity will be piqued, and your faith will be transformed. --Harisha Bastiampillai, senior counsel, Tata Communications This book will appeal to those who want a summary of selected books from different versions of the Bible, as well as Christians interested in a logical analysis of events from creation to Jesus. . . . Whether it is the life of Moses, David, or Jesus, the author sequences the passages in a manner the reader can follow with interest. --Arvind Jadhav, adjunct faculty, University of Dallas Charles's logical, faithful argumentation is very convincing. . . . This book is worth reading for those who want to understand the Bible in our times. It conveys surprising but truthful insights into a future relationship between reason and faith. --Hans Schwable, author of Notion in Motion and Pearls of Wisdom
