Forked Tongue: Lithic is an ""immediate prequel"" to its predecessor, Forked Tongue, in that it occurs mere days before the climactic events of that book. Thus giving an insight into a new, terrifying side of humanity's worst enemy in over a century. Nonetheless, Forked Tongue is the recommended starting point for new readers - albeit not required - for its expansive lore into the world of the Dreaded Five, as well as the history and functions of the private military contractor itself. Days before the cambion uprising on the East Coast, long-unseen enemies emerge from the Earth's crust in Southern California, tormenting the small town of Ridgecrest. An elite paramilitary specializing in fringe threats, Forked Tongue is confident in its response. The facility in Salem, Oregon dispatches two-person units, called Dyads, to handle the havoc in Ridgecrest. Among the five Dyads, Adder - composed of Ben Rylett and Roe Colter - witnesses the true scope of this enemy's staggering capabilities.
