The volume of dried apricots and peaches consumed in Cuba is small. The relatively high prices at which these fruits are sold restricts the market principally to members of the foreign colonies and a few well-to - do Cubans. Fancy Quality apricots and peaches are preferred, since lower grades are stated to develop an unfavorable appearance because of the climate. Only very small quantities of dried pears and apples are imported, the latter being used principally by bakers.
