Joshua first starting coaching at his local sailing club as a 15-year-old. In the ensuing decades, Joshua has coached athletes to world championship victories as well as having had the privilege of giving thousands of beginners their first experience within the sport.His experience ranges from working with private clients through to being the head coach of multiple clubs through to Head Coach of NSW state performance and youth squads.This broad experience has delivered Joshua along a path towards focussing on participation and retention. While winning world championships is amazing, what gets Joshua's heart racing is giving participants that first amazing experience and guiding them along the path to lifelong enjoyment and participation.It's a privilege to be trusted with that first experience, and to be able to give the gift of a lifelong engagement with a sport truly fascinates Joshua and gives a direction to his energies and career.This book is the culmination of a career spent coaching and guiding and trying to figure out how to best serve the players in his care, to now supporting the broader community and the people and clubs within it.
