Excerpt from For More and Better Corn in the Northwest For the purpose of further demonstrating the possibilities of growing corn and alfalfa in North Dakota, the Agricultural Extension Department of the International Harvester Company of New Jersey leased a half section farm for a period of five years. The year 1912 was a poor corn year as the season was unfavorable, especially so because of a wet fall and a killing frost which came before much of the corn was matured. We were able, however, to secure enough locally grown seed to plant about two hundred acres over which we had supervision.
