OverviewExcerpt from Fluctuations of the Water Level in Wells With Special Reference, to Long Island, New York In connection with the investigation of the geology of Long Island by the United States Geological Survey in the summer of 1903, a few observations were made on the fluctuation of the water level in wells, both with direct-reading and self-recording gages. In the consideration of these data, as well as those collected at the same time by the New York City commission on additional water supply, it has seemed desirable to enter into a general discussion of the fluctuation of water in wells.
