OverviewExcerpt from First Annual Report of the State Geologist: Read in the House of Representatives, December 22, 1836 The Governor, who has examined the report, authorizes me to state, that he concurs in bespeaking the favorable attention of the general assembly to that part of it, which relates to an increase in the number of Assistant Geologists. The soundest prudence dictates that all necessary facility shall be afforded to this important underta king. By complying with the request of the chief Geologist, now, the final completion of the survey will be hastened, without adding to the aggregate ultimate expense, and the public will be sooner put in possession of that certainty of malt which is so desirable in every respect.
