OverviewFrank Lloyd Wrights' Fireplaces captures the appeal that hearths held for Wright, who loved to see the fire burning deep in the masonry of the house itself. Most of his fireplaces were brick or stone, and they were massive--cavelike centers that beckoned everyone with their warmth and light. Examples here show the many variations Wright achieved from his earliest work in the Chicago area through the Prarie houses, the California textile-block designs, the Usonian residences, masterpeices like Fallingwater, and his own three homes, which together received forty-four fireplaces.
