Reviews

""This book brings the reader closer to the reality of working in a regulated environment and busts some of the myths that often circulate, limiting beliefs and potentially stifling innovation. Fintech Regulation in Practice tackles some of the key questions we're all asking about technology in financial services, providing a much-needed contribution to the discussion and bringing a sense of transparency that will only help progress the debate. This is one of those books that will only enrich the reader's knowledge leaving them informed and energised."" * Nicola Anderson, CEO, FinTech Scotland and former FCA regulator * ""Regulation is not bad for business. It is necessary for any resilient long-term business. Fintech Regulation in Practice emphasizes the mindset and conduct culture needed to foster an innovative environment where customer protection is a default. Maha El Dimachki highlights the importance of proportionate regulation and how to ensure that regulatory measures are balanced for the business's scale and scope. Her regulatory background reassures us that we are in this together, making the implementation of these measures feel achievable."" * Camilla Bullock, CEO, Emerging Payments Association Asia * ""As would be expected from Maha El Dimachki, this book is a must for any fintech that is looking to start and scale. It is an excellent guide to how innovation meets regulation and how regulators have embraced new opportunities to drive industry-led innovation with regulatory oversight."" * Charlotte Crosswell, Chair, Centre for Finance Innovation and Technology and Non-Executive Director * ""Fintech is a key component of the financial services industry today, and its impact and the benefits will continue to grow. This book provides fintechs around the world with insights into the 'whys' of regulation as well as a guide on how to navigate the regulatory framework for fintechs from start-up to scale-up to maturity. Maha El Dimachki expertly takes readers through the fintech and regulatory lifecycle, breaking down the breadth and complexity of regulation into digestible chapters."" * Nilixa Devlukia, CEO, Payments Solved and former regulator * ""Right-sized regulation is key to a strong and stable economy. One that creates a solid foundation for innovation to thrive. To enable that, all parties in the ecosystem from regulators to investors to fintechs of all sizes should play their role in upholding high standards. Fintech Regulation in Practice is a must for anyone operating in this ecosystem. A very readable book, it offers a practical approach to fintech regulation; one that promotes a conduct culture and is embedded in the business from early stages right through its lifecycle. The ideas here are more than interesting, emanating as they do from an industry insider turned regulator whose passion for safe and sound fintech growth permeates every page."" * Lord Holmes of Richmond, Member of the House of Lords Select Committee on Democracy and Digital Technologies * ""Fintech regulation can be scary. Maha El Dimachki cuts through the noise and guides readers through the complex world providing a simple guide for both students and those working in the industry. Written by the former Head of Early and High Growth Oversight at the Financial Conduct Authority, you could not have a more authoritative voice!"" * David Parker, CEO, Polymath Consulting and investor * ""As fintech becomes mainstream, we need guardrails to ensure innovation is sustainable and prioritizes the needs of the end customer. Fintech Regulation in Practice is a very accessible guide that makes it clear that the way to achieve this outcome is to embed risk management processes in the heart of the business. Drawing on Maha El Dimachki's extensive public and private sector experience, this book offers nuanced perspectives, rejecting a one-size-fits-all approach to regulation. Covering company culture, technology strategy, operations and investor relations - deftly illustrating how these aspects are interlinked - it provides the tools and mindset needed for success."" * Victoria Richardson, COO, Meeco and author of Money in the Metaverse *
