OverviewThis is the final volume of the trilogy that began with The Shelbydog Chronicles by Shelby Cole as Recorded by Mark G. Boyer: A Novel (Resource Publications, 2022) and was followed by More Shelbydog Chronicles: Reflections on a Dog's Life by Her Friend, Knowing Your Pet (Resource Publications, 2024). Shelbydog Cole died on June 30, 2025. In the pages of Final Shelbydog Chronicles, the author narrates how a Labrador-Boxer mix, weighing sixty pounds, affected not only him and many of the people in his neighborhood but many others as a silent missionary. Not only is this book the last of the trilogy, but it is designed to help those grieving the death of a pet dog or any other pet with whom they shared a special connection or bond. Single pet owners grieve deeply for the pet they loved and for whom they cared. Thus, anyone experiencing the absence of a pet, experiencing the emptiness upon the pet's departure from this life, will, hopefully, discover words of comfort in this book. Table of ContentsReviews""Anyone who has lived with, been owned by, cherished, and suffered with a dog will find this chronicle both a spiritual journey and one difficult to read because it is so relatable. The Shelbydog Chronicles have given us the joys and the responsibilities of sharing our lives with animals, and this final volume makes it clear that the bond between us and our pets parallels our lives with family and friends. Readers will be blessed and emotionally stretched by Boyer's ability to relate the path we travel when we adopt a pet."" --Victor H. Matthews, Emeritus Professor of Religious Studies, Missouri State University ""In Latin anima means 'breath' or 'soul, ' and animalis, the adjective that comes from it, means 'having breath or soul.' Shelbydog was an animal, but in these chronicles, we come to know her as a true spirit being with a soul that touched many. Anyone who has had such an animal in their life will be touched by these stories. 'Ask the beasts' we are told in the Book of Job, 'and they will teach you who God is' (Job 12:7). Shelbydog taught Mark and many others about God."" --Vernon Meyer, Retired Pastor, United Church of Christ Author InformationMark G.
