Dublin, Ireland 1918 In the years between the bloody 1916 Rising and the start of the War of Independence against the occupying British forces, WWI veteran Tommy Conlon is making a living tracking down missing children and trying to avoid trouble. But when he accepts a case from two nuns who believe somebody is abducting street kids from the inner city, he finds himself digging into the darkness of the second city of the British Empire-its poverty, the corruption of the Church and the warring gangs who control its vice.
