OverviewDespite incredible and previously undreamed-of advances in modern medicine, for many women the issue of infertility remains a heart-breaking reality. Using a combination of traditional and modern astrological techniques, the author has delved deeply into the charts of hundreds of infertile women, and in many cases has unravelled what might be at the root of the problem. Sometimes it's a matter of location or timing, or it could be psychological issues in the relationship that are causing the block; whatever the reason, the author works closely with the couple - and often the medical profession - to produce results that are frequently positive where there has been no hope before. Although this is an advanced textbook for astrologers, the human element of the case histories is nothing short of inspiring, and from that perspective can be enjoyed by readers with no knowledge of astrology. Table of ContentsReviewsMost astrologers are familiar with the connections between astrology and mythology - both those myths that predate the astrology we know and those that we looked to later to help explain what we saw in the stars. As much as mythology helps us understand ourselves, it is rare to find a close marriage between astrological technique and mythological narrative that produces a direct, practical application of narrative healing. That can be found in this book. Nicola's astrology is revolutionary for many reasons. One is quite simply that she takes deeply classical methods such as the Almuten of pregnancy and directs it, an unprecedented use of almutens yet revelatory in its results. Another is that she brings her astrology into the contemporary health paradigms of narrative medicine and shows that astrology fits into these new paradigms and ways of understanding ourselves just as it did in ancient times and throughout the ages, without having to alter the astrology to fit the modern paradigm. This is a significant point. Nicola does not require us to alter or abandon the astrology we know, which has been used throughout our history; nor does her innovation mean we have to accept a paradigm of astrology distant from those we already know. She reminds us that fertility itself is not a subject new to astrology, but the results of using many of the largely symbolic traditional methods common today have been found wanting at best. Difficulty conceiving is a prevalent issue and one which causes much anxiety, and methods such as IVF, which are often resorted to, in themselves prolong anxiety through expense and discomfort. Since there are so few alternative options, it is not surprising that many specialists in the field of fertility have been open to Nicola's work in an effort to minimise the challenges for these patients. This has enabled her to help people who might otherwise have never consulted an astrologer, as well as encourage professionals in other fields such as medicine to see the value of astrology, and indeed astrology itself in an altogether new light. The same will happen to you when you apply the methods in this book. While Nicola does not fall into the thorny trap of attempting to prove her work using the limitations of empirical methods, her work with doctors and the many successful results people have had with her methods speak to a new paradigm in which to measure astrological results. Nicola suggests that astrology is a narrative healing method, and thus allows the reader to contemplate and experiment with the use of her clear methodology to help resolve other challenges our clients face. I have witnessed Nicola's progress through the vast knowledge network of astrology since its very beginning, and it is inspiring - and sometimes mind-boggling - to see where her penetrating, enquiring intellect has taken her without ever steering her away from her solid roots in traditional and contemporary methods. I know that what awaits you, the reader, is a journey that will challenge, stretch and grow your astrology too.
