Overview

Fear is a strong emotion that is hard to deal with. Very few people like the way fear makes them feel. It helps to understand how fear affects your mind and body. Different people are afraid of different things. Find out what you can do when you, or someone you know, are afraid. Level 1 readers are aimed at children who are starting to recognize common words and are capable of sounding out unfamiliar words. Short, simple sentences help guide the reader through new concepts and ideas. This project has been made possible in part by the Government of Canada.

Author Information

Sarah became an editor after many years of working as a bookseller, columnist and reviewer. She has also taught courses on writing, editing and publishing. Sarah was an editor at Orca Book Publishers for thirteen years before she (semi)-retired to become a freelance editor. She is also the author of a baker's dozen of books for young readers (board book to YA). When she's not reading, writing or editing, Sarah runs around after her three grandchildren, does yoga, (to counteract the effects of running around after small children), walks, draws and meditates. Alexis Roumanis graduated from Simon Fraser University's Master of Publishing program in 2009. Since then, he has edited hundreds of children's books, and written more than 100 educational books. His audience includes children in grades K-12 as well as university students. Alexis lives with his wife and three young boys in British Columbia, Canada. He enjoys the outdoors, reading a good book, and has a passion for learning new things.
