"My first life began in 1947 when I was born a twin into an Italian-American family in Brooklyn. As a young man, I was ambitious, eager, and impatient to fulfill my dreams of success in the business world. I married, got my MBA, and started a family. Then an insidious medical condition almost ended my life three times within a decade and left me disabled. It changed everything-how I measured success and what was most important to me. My second life started in my 46th year when my medical condition forced me to stop working. As terrible as that was, it gave me the priceless gift of unrestricted time. Emil Imbro grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He raised his family in New Jersey and found a winter refuge in Key West where his van became his beachside home. He now resides near Ft. Lauderdale with his wife. He has traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad. Sicily remains his favorite destination because he loves reconnecting with his family past and present. He is VP of Cultural Affairs for Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity and has written an Italian Heritage column in the fraternity magazine for many years.
