Author Information

"Rachel lives on the High Plains of Colorado with her husband, daughter, and three furry ""sons"" (one dog and two cats). She enjoys the beauty, depth, and humor of life all around her. She and her family are often greatly entertained and amused by the wonder of the natural world they are surrounded by and love to tell creative and silly stories inspired by this setting. She is a passionate educator and egalitarian. One of her greatest desires is to influence those her life touches with an enhanced and enriched awareness and appreciation for the richness of life through history, culture, and God's Creation - expressed through the diversity of our world. It is through this passion and love for people and the written word that she aims to contribute works that bring knowledge, compassion, patience, kindness, humor, beauty, and victory out of tragedy to her audiences. After all, such are the things that make a life. Rachel credits her love of the written word to her Creator, the wonder, richness, value, and appreciation of her life to her Saviour, and all her life's fulfillment through her family to the Almighty. She is forever grateful to her husband who has never doubted her and always encouraged, inspired, and faithfully loved her. Deandra is a two spirit freelance artist based out of Northern Colorado. They hope that the story and imagery of Falling Rock: A High Plains Native Legend can bring more awareness, honor, and celebration of the Sioux Nation as well as other indigenous nations. They create anything from hand painted logos and illustrations to mixed media art. Their style is a blend between surrealism, contemporary, abstract, cubism, futurism and expressionism. They have done works for a plethora of non profit and for profit organizations including Weld County Humane Society, Southern Plains Land Trust and Rescued Friends Animal Sanctuary. Deandra also has a large collection of bodies of art which have been featured in showcases across Colorado. They've created a tradition of donating work to organizations as well including Marcus Garvey Center of UNC. Environmental creating has been a big platform that Deandra has used for majority of their creations, For example painting detailed pieces on scrapped wood or cardboard with the purpose of up-cycling. As an artist Deandra aims to bring awareness and imagination to onlookers of their work. They hope that their work can aid in the opening of doors within creative fields to others who identify in the sphere of two spirit."
