OverviewNational security is one of the least studied and discussed subjects in India. Issues in India’s national security receive scant attention in the academia and media. What is discussed gets mired in assessing immediate threat perceptions, border security and challenges emerging from Pakistan. While important, these are not the only national security issues. A comprehensive understanding of the national security demands a more open approach to issues such as geopolitics, the composition of the military and even human security. In order to fill this gap, the volume brings together established and young scholars from academia and think tank to reflect on important, conceptual, strategic, military and developmental issues in India’s national security. It is a festschrift for Commodore C. Uday Bhaskar who has spent majority of his life studying, understanding and commenting on national security issues gives the work an added value.
