Overview

Developments in public international air law and aviation policy are of immediate interest to all who are concerned about the future of the Europan and the global air transport systems. As the year 1993 is nearing, the EEC air transport market will obtain a new dimension and could, as one market, become the biggest negotiating tool to arrive at greater freedom for the air carrier industry in the world. This work aims to offer a major contribution to preparing the minds of the aviation world for such an eventuality. This work contains the original reports of a seminar entitled The EC-US Aviation Relationship of the Future which was organized by The International Institute of Air and Space Law Association, the Europe Institute and The Office for Legal Post-Academic Courses (PAO), University of Leiden. This publication not only deals with the aviation relationship between the EC and the US, but also with the aviation relationship with other third parties, eg with countries like the Eastern European States. It provides an insight into the problems of international civil aviation policy in the future, taking the present situation as a starting point, and more especially it gives an idea of how we have to deal with air political aspects of the European Community after January 1, 1993.
