SkovholtReviewsThere is a steady flow of articles on the topic of therapist expertise in the last couple decades, although I would not describe it as a 'hot' topic. More broadly, there is increased focus on the role of the therapist as a contributor to outcome in psychotherapy, in contrast to a view of the therapist simply as a vehicle through which a particularly treatment approach is delivered. I should also note that psychology like other fields is becoming increasingly global/international in its focus, which fits with the approach proposed by the authors. - Tracy D. Eells, MBA, PhD, Professor, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, University of Louisville Looking at 'counseling' from a more cross-national perspective is a hot topic in the field and represents a natural progression of interest from mononational to multinational. The authors have research studies from multiple countries; most of the studies used the same or similar methodology; and the authors intend to close the book with a chapter that compares the results of all the studies. This is a unique book. It is not really comparable to texts on cross-cultural counseling or 'international counseling.' Skovholt is very well known in the field, and highly respected.
