Overview"After my honorable discharge from the Army, I found myself working for a company that manufactured stereo receivers and speakers. As a traffic manager, my days were filled with routine tasks, and after three years, I grew increasingly restless. Seeking guidance, I visited one of my old high school teachers, Mr. Artry. We reminisced about the past and discussed the present. I confided in him, expressing my boredom with life. His question caught me off guard: ""Besides chasing girls, what do you truly enjoy?"" The answer was clear: photography. Mr. Artry encouraged me to pursue my passion and recommended enrolling in photography classes at Columbia College. So, I registered for night classes, eager to explore this newfound path. Over the next two years, I immersed myself in serious study. Armed with my camera, I ventured into the vibrant world of photography. Soon, I was freelancing for international music publications, capturing the energy of concerts in cities like Chicago, New York, and California. The photographs in this book span decades-the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. Each frame holds a story, frozen in time. And now, in 2024, I've transitioned from still images to moving ones. I produce and direct feature films, weaving narratives through the lens. Through it all, I've come to believe that everyone possesses sight, but it takes a photographer's keen eye to truly see-the interplay of light and shadow, the fleeting expressions, and the beauty hidden in ordinary moments." Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationBiography of Boston Moody: I grew up in a predominantly Italian neighborhood in the north side of Chicago. My parents bought a building there when I was twelve years old. All of my friends were Italian, although, my ethnicity is African American. During my teenage years, I enjoyed rock and roll music, fast cars, and teenage girls. I was the captain of the Cooley High basketball team and was nominated for All City Basketball player. After high school, I joined the Army and went to Vietnam. I quickly realized that war was not like the movies. I became interested in taking pictures of my experiences in Vietnam. When I was discharged from military service in 1967, I had no idea what to do with myself. My old high school teacher asked me what I liked to do, and I said photography. He suggested that I enroll in Columbia College Chicago's Fine Arts program. Since then, I have been photographing celebrities since 1974. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
