She is the founder member, steering group member, and Chair of the Royal College of Midwives Campaign for Normal Birth, the Francine Gooris International Midwifery Chair in Belgium, Chair of the International Confederation of Midwives research standing committee and Visiting Professor,Kwong Wah Hospital, Hong Kong. Sheena Byrom is a Consultant Midwife at both the University of Central Lancashire and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.
