The book contains a collection of works devoted to the most topical issues of modern linguistics, including ross-cultural communication, various aspects of theoretical and practical lexicography, terminology and terminography.Papers contributed are divided into four major sections. The topics discussed are of great importance not only for lexicograpers, but also for linguists, because they are devoted to the latest trends of development in modern linguistics as well as terminology studies in Russia and abroad. What is especially interesting are projects of new dictionaries for general and special purposes which are being compiled in various countries. Olga Karpova regularly gives presentations in international conferences and congresses in Russia, Finland, Sweden, the USA, Holland, Austria, Italy, etc., received international research grants from the British Academy in Dictionary Research Centre, Exeter University (1996) and Norwegian Research Council at Oslo University (1998 - 1999). Author of numerous publications (over 200 articles and 7 books) on theory of lexicography, LSP dictionaries, and author lexicography.
