Overview

As the sun sets on a late spring evening, eight college students arrive by charter boat at the private island residence of their brilliant and reclusive professor, the renowned Doctor Alistair Grimdeath. They have come to take their final exam for a seminar titled Horror in Popular Culture and Practice. But what the students do not know is that in order to pass the class, they must first survive the night... With an engaging blend of suspense, mystery, and humor, Escape from the Mansion on the Island of Doctor Grimdeath is a modern homage to the classic horror genre.

Author Information

At one time or another, Doug Bedwell has been a playwright, an actor, a college instructor, a computer programmer, a lighting designer, a factory laborer, a carpenter, a department store clerk, a construction worker, a lab assistant, a landscaper, a summer camp counselor, a pizza delivery guy, and many other vocations too numerous or embarrassing to mention. Elements of this eclectic background frequently find their way into his creative work. For an artist, nothing is wasted. Every experience - good, bad, or otherwise - becomes one more source of insight or perspective. His plays have been produced in academic, community, and professional theatres from coast to coast. In 2016, he published his first novel, the science fiction comedy Robot Captain, followed in 2018 by the fantasy adventure A Counterfeit Princess. He has also published a novelette - The Stone Troll's Diary - and a small collection of poetry entitled Wastewood.
