OverviewIn her photographs and sculptures, the artist Erika Maack focuses on the multi-faceted relationship between nature and artificiality. The starting point for her work is often banal motifs: blossoming cherry branches, sea ice and the dark night sky. By recreating these scenes in her studio in order to photograph them, the artist removes herself twice from reality. Paradoxically, the photographs reveal an extremely magical atmosphere, so that nature, in all its romantic seductive power, once again casts a spell on us. This is the first publication to give a comprehensive insight into the artist's oeuvre, including the installations featured in the exhibition at the Museum zu Allerheiligen, Schaffhausen, February - April 2007.
