Table of ContentsReviews'The second edition of this publication is a timely and valuable contribution to the field, particularly given its strong European focus (which also includes discussion of MENA developments). Especially welcome are innovative supplements on sustainable investment, deep tech and AI, all of which are having pronounced impact in entrepreneurial finance.' Edward Bace, Middlesex University London, UK 'Alemany and Andreoli have delivered an outstanding resource that is the definitive textbook for any entrepreneurial finance course. It masterfully bridges the gap between rigorous financial theory and the practical, real-world 'art' of funding a venture. It provides an authoritative overview of the entire venture life cycle and both undergraduate and graduate students might benefit immensely from its blend of practical wisdom and sharp scenarios. The new chapters on sustainable finance, deep tech and AI are particularly timely and impactful. It's an indispensable guide for students and educators as well as for (aspiring) founders and investors.' Vincenzo Capizzi, Università del Piemonte Orientale, Italy 'Great book! I have had the privilege of sharing classes with Luisa at Esade in the Entrepreneurial Finance and Venture Capital courses, and the book reflects the spirit of the sessions, Luisa's passion for the topic and her deep knowledge of it. The book is both practical and inspiring, and my students find it a very valuable guide. It is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in building and scaling ventures.' Teresa Corrales, Esade Business School, Spain 'Recently revised, Entrepreneurial Finance is an outstanding textbook, combining practical insights with real-world context through well-chosen newspaper articles and scenarios. The new chapters on sustainable finance and deep tech investing are timely and impactful. The textbook provides a sharp, application-focused resource for students, educators and aspiring entrepreneurs navigating today's dynamic funding landscape.' Renzo Cordina, University of Dundee, UK 'This book provides an authoritative, comprehensive and current overview of the diverse topics that comprise the theory and practice of entrepreneurial finance. Alemany and Andreoli have brought together an impressive team of experts. To those looking to launch ventures or advise or train entrepreneurs, the book is an indispensable companion, a whispering CFO.' Dimo Dimov, University of Bath, UK 'I have consistently used Entrepreneurial Finance: The Art and Science of Growing Ventures when teaching the entrepreneurship module on my Master's course. It is the best possible resource for preparing my students to become CFOs of start-ups.' Fabian Dittrich, Fachhochschule Dortmund, Germany 'This excellent textbook introduces students to the subject of entrepreneurial as opposed to corporate finance. While many other texts concentrate on the computation of value, treating this as a mathematical subject, this book combines that approach with thorough coverage of routes to funding and the strategic implications of these across the venture life cycle.' Magnus George, University of Lancaster, UK 'This new edition keeps the practical wisdom that made Entrepreneurial Finance by Alemany and Andreoli a must-read, while adding timely insights on financing deep tech ventures. It blends hands-on guidance on early-stage funding and investor negotiations with emerging topics like impact investing and artificial intelligence – all with the depth for a well-rounded understanding.' Ferran Giones, University of Stuttgart, Germany 'Entrepreneurial Finance by Luisa Alemany and Job Andreoli is an indispensable volume for anyone who wants to apply finance skills to start-ups and small businesses. This book offers a fresh perspective on venture capital, clearly explains the valuation methods, and brings the subject to life with timely, real-world examples. The second edition contains new chapters on corporate venture capital, deep tech investing, AI, ESG and venture debt, providing a unique content amongst more dated textbooks.' Anna Grosman, Loughborough University, UK 'Organized along the start-up process and laid out in a fresh, well-readable style, this book is a must for entrepreneurial finance academics and practitioners alike. The rich background of the multiple experts who contributed to the book turns it into a prime source for comprehensive studies as well as a guidebook for specific entrepreneurial finance problems.' Bernd Muehlfriedel, Hochschule Landshut, Germany 'This book combines scholarly depth with practical relevance, offering entrepreneurs, students and professionals a comprehensive guide to the 'art and science' of financing ventures. The entrepreneurial and venture ecosystem in the Middle East is growing really fast, and I am excited that this new edition also includes data and cases from the region.'
