OverviewIn medieval literature, nudity often means the appearance or staging of a female body in a fragile dress, the shirt. The author examines specific scenes from the courtly epic, in which the female body is shown in a white shirt. It is about scenes of the exposure and veiling of a female figure. The fabric - the shirt - is closest to the biological body shell, the skin and is concealing cover and diaphane surface at the same time. The study shows that the shirt acts as a symbolic and symbolized expression and drawing surface, through which the figure's body is semantized.
