Author Information

"Dian sees clients on a one-to one basis for nutrition counselling. Her research interests include women’s health issues, endometriosis, sub-fertility in both male and female, premenstrual syndrome, endocrine disorders and polycystic ovary syndrome and menopause. She has published several papers, abstracts and book chapters and has given lectures to scientific societies in Europe, the USA, Asia, Australia and South America. A past Trustee of the British Endometriosis Society she is now a founder member of the SHE Trust (Simply Holistic Endometriosis) a charity that supports women with endometriosis who wish to use both orthodox and complementary therapies on their road to wellness.. Dian has researched the relationship between endometriosis, fertility and diet and works closely with doctors and consultants in the UK, USA and European countries. She is a member of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), and the American Association for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and attends their annual conferences to keep updated on new research. Dian is an Advisor to the International Endometriosis Association Headquartered in America and as such has links to the EA groups in America, Japan, Brazil, the Nordic countries and other European groups, as well as the independent groups in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland. In addition to Dian’s professional understanding of endometriosis, she has personal experience of the condition. For a time between 1981 and 1982 she was bedridden for six months due to severe abdominal and leg pains that left her unable to walk. Endometriosis was written in her notes but the gynaecologist did not believe that it could cause such pain and she was never told. She saw eight different specialists in this time. In 1987 she was extremely ill again with ovarian cysts bursting, and terrible pain. The drug treatments given for pseudo-menopause and pseudo-pregnancy made her even more ill. Laser surgery removed one cyst but it returned within a fortnight. The only treatment offered was a total hysterectomy with ovaries removed. Dian did not wish to have major surgery and opted to look into complementary treatments. Her motto and philosophy has always been """"Let’s try the least harsh method first and work up"""". The Optimum Nutrition route was a major part of her healing process. She consulted a clinical ecologist and closely followed his advice. By 1989 she began to be symptom free and has remained that way ever since. Dian has since retrained for further six years in nutritional medicine and has worked with thousands of women suffering from endometriosis and fertility problems worldwide. Nutrition is not magical it is logical. While following a healthy eating life plan (HELP), many women have seen a regression of their symptoms and have regained their energy and vitality. Improving quality of life is a key factor in regaining your health. There is no failure except in ceasing to try as the teacher used to say, so Dian will go on researching to find the cause of the endometriosis, her quest is to irradicate period pain from the planet. Dian also works closely with Foresight, the charity for preconceptual care which helps couples who have suffered miscarriage and undiagnosed infertility. Her next book ‘Making Babies: the Nutrition Recipe’ is due out shortly. She has also written a 12 week Nutrition Homestudy course available from ION. Dian can be contacted via the web sites www.endometriosis.co.uk and www.makingbabies.com and www.nutrition.us.com for consultations. Dian is a Clinical Nutritionist and the director of The Endometriosis and Fertility Clinic at London's The Hale Clinic and has written many articles on endometriosis and fertility."
