Reviews

in Emerald City Hip Hop, Seattle, Alexis Wolfe constructs an illuminating primer - equal parts photo-essay and personal scrapbook - on the contemporary Seattle hip-hop community. Through her photos and stories, we're able to witness the passion, optimism, and vibrancy of Our Fair City's scene, as well as Wolfe's own personal journey and growth as an artist. - Jacob McMurray, Senior Curator, MoPop Alexis' serious yet unbiased documentation of Seattle's music scene is unparalleled. Her photographs chronicle the struggles of aspiring musicians, the conflict inherent in Hip Hop and the triumph achieved by the perseverance needed to succeed. Alexis is an amazing talent and an amazing person. Her immersion in her photography is apparent in her work produced. - Ricardo Frazer, long-time manager of Sir Mix-A-Lot What I luv most about Lexy's photos is that she makes us look human, instead of the usual over-blown & exaggerated super-men/super-thugs/super-clowns that most photographers paint us as. We're just people and she catches that... She shoots the inner feelings, not the projected character, and she does it with effortless charm which is very disarming. That's why she wins. -Shock G, Digital Underground
